Four teams went to the Chance to Shine Outdoor Cricket Competition, below is a summary of how the all got on. We welcome any new students who would like to join the Cricket Club. Cricket training continues outdoors on Mondays and Fridays during break two and on Wednesdays after school (3.30 until 4.30 pm). We also look forward to taking members of the Cricket Club on a trip to watch Somerset vs Hampshire in July.

It has been a busy winter season for the geographers of South Dartmoor. The exam groups in Year 11 and 12 have been honing their geographical research skills in, what we call the “real world”. In exercises designed to stun them into the realisation that the things that we have been learning in the class room can actually happen!
Excitement and curiosity filled the air at the school on Monday 13th March, as the Year 10 cohort gathered to witness a brain dissection, launching the British Science Week celebrations. Teacher Mr McGeever took centre stage to show the students how the brain works and how it linked to this year's theme of "connections".
During February half term the History Department had the privilege of taking a group of Year 11 to 13 students to Rome to see amongst other things the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill and Circus Maximus, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, various sites around the city related to Italian Fascism, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.
Body Language 2023 left a wonderful buzz at South Dartmoor Community College and within the local community. This year’s programme extended beyond previous years, which is reflective of the consistent development we strive for here.
We are very grateful for the ongoing support that The Helen Foundation and Daisi (arts inspired learning) provide for creative activities at South Dartmoor. The foundation is facilitating a wonderfully creative, printmaking experience for our Year 9 and 12 students.
We welcomed Baroness Hayman to an informative virtual session with a cross section of our Year 8 - 12 students, who had expressed an interest in finding out more about how our political system works in the UK - with a particular focus on the House of Lords.
During Body Language Week we seized the opportunity to team up with Street Factory founder Toby G and the Hip Hop Educate Dance Ambassadors, Laila and Jackson.
