    The Trail Trotter runners recently experienced a fantastic run on Dartmoor during our second REACH (Realising Educational Aspirations through Expanding Cultural Horizons) session, and were blessed with unexpectedly clear weather. As the clouds parted, the group was treated to breathtaking views of the rugged landscape.

  • South Dartmoor Sixth Form Celebrates A Level Results ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

    South Dartmoor Sixth Form is again celebrating impressive A Level results. Our students have maintained our strong academic tradition and, as in previous years, they have performed exceptionally well, securing places across the country at top universities including at Russell group universities such as Cardiff and Edinburgh. In addition to this, one in three students achieved an A or an A* grade and there was an outstanding overall pass rate of over 97%. Most importantly, the vast majority of students secured the grades they need to enable them to move on to their first choice for the next stage of their futures and it is these personal stories that are so very interesting and rewarding.

  • Discovering Dartmoor

    Geographical enrichment “happened” to Year 8 students on a very lovely sunny Thursday. Three coaches disgorged their audibly excited contents at Hound Tor car park at 10am, and in a mass start resembling the start of the Plymouth half marathon, the students challenged themselves to a race to the top.

  • Devon Coast to Coast

    Mr. Stokes took part in the Devon Coast to Coast Ultra Marathon. He started running from Wembury on the South Devon coast on Saturday 18th May and didn’t stop until he got to Lynmouth on the North Devon coast the next day. That was 112 miles (180km), crossing the whole county and two national parks – Dartmoor and Exmoor  –  all within a 38-hour time limit! Here is his story:

  • Greenpower Kit Car Club Race

    On Sunday 2nd June 2024 Bill, Dylan, Jonty, Seth and their families met with Mr. Stokes at 7am on a bright sunny morning at Castle Combe Racetrack. The Greenpower Kit Car Club had assembled to put their electric car to the test! The day was to consist of scrutineering to make sure that our car was safe and compliant, followed by a practice run. After the practice run there were two races for the team to compete in.

  • Year 12 Geography trip

    Whilst the South Dartmoor community was slumbering, cosy in their beds in the depths of the night, Year 12 geographers slipped off to start the annual field trip to the Isle of Arran. Keenly awaiting the arrival of the 2:45am Falcon bus to Bristol Airport, excitement illuminated Drumbridges roundabout and the size of the merry throng scared the driver!
