A Level Results for South Dartmoor Community College and Atrium Sixth Form

South Dartmoor Community College and Atrium Sixth Form is celebrating another set of strong A Level results, maintaining its position as one of the highest performing sixth forms in the country. After a challenging 18 months, many students have still managed to attain top grades (A*) in one or more subject. More than 75% are on track to secure their first choice place at the top universities.

Almost three quarters of students' grades were A* - B and provisional projections suggest at least 50% of those applying to higher education will progress to a Russell Group university. There was also significant achievement in BTEC and CTEC studies, with 100% achieving distinction* or distinction.

Executive Head Teacher, Jen Veal, said: “I am so proud of all the students. They have worked hard under difficult circumstances to achieve the grades they needed to progress to their chosen higher education destinations. The students responded really well to the blended approach of remote teaching and face to face lessons, finding different ways to learn and succeed. I am delighted that they have fulfilled their potential in spite of the pandemic and I wish them every success in the world.

“This is not the year to dwell on the statistics, no matter how great they are, but more to share the stories of tremendous resilience from our students. For so many to have continued to study and maintain high expectations of themselves throughout the pandemic is a huge achievement in itself. Supported by dedicated and committed staff at SDCC and Atrium, our students can compete strongly on a national stage and go on to even greater success. Congratulations to you all!”

Emma Gallagher, Deputy Head Teacher in charge of the Sixth Form, said: “We are delighted for our students, the results are really strong again and they will enable all students to go on to do whatever they wish next year. Once more, the college is exceptionally proud of another great set of results for the students, stemming from the excellent relationships between students and staff, combined with outstanding subject knowledge and strong teaching. We look forward to watching our students flourish in the next stage of their educational journey.”
