SDCC Celebrates Excellent GCSE Results

Students at South Dartmoor Community College are celebrating another excellent year of GCSE results, reflecting their hard work, resilience and ambition, as well as the dedication of staff across the College.
There were strong performances across the curriculum, with notable successes in Science, English, Maths, Languages, Business, Photography and Art. Almost two thirds of grades in Physics, Chemistry and Biology were awarded at grade 7 or above, 67% of students achieved grade 5 or above in English and half of students achieved strong passes in both English and Maths.
Individual achievements were equally impressive, including Doro, who achieved eight grade 9s and a grade 8, Harry, who excelled in eleven subjects including achieving seven grade 9s and Ella, who achieved six grade 9s and three grade 8s.

Jen Veal, Executive Headteacher, said: “This is an absolutely brilliant year group; I have loved every minute of working with them and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved. These results are a testament to their determination, the expert teaching they have received and the strong relationships between staff and students. They are so much more than a set of grades: they are responsible, kind, good fun and intellectually curious young people, and we are excited to see what they do next.”

Abi Slater, Director of Sixth Form, added: “We are delighted to be welcoming many of this talented year group back into our Sixth Form in September, alongside new students joining us from across South Devon. We wish every student success and happiness as they take their next steps, whether at South Dartmoor or elsewhere.”
On behalf of all staff, congratulations to every student who collected results today. Your hard work and determination have paid off and we wish you the very best for the future.
