Sixth Form Rewilding Talk

As part of a constant programme of guest speakers, our Sixth Form students enjoyed an engaging and insightful talk from Jack, who works on the Sharpham Estate’s rewilding project along the River Dart. Jack shared how he and his team are transforming the 50‑acre site through rewilding—allowing the land to recover naturally, restoring ecological processes and encouraging the return of diverse plant and animal species.

He explained the practical steps involved in creating new habitats, from reducing human intervention to monitoring wildlife as ecosystems regenerate. He also highlighted the importance of community involvement in conservation work and spoke about potential pathways into environmental and sustainability-focused careers.

His passion, expertise and deep commitment to environmental recovery hopefully left students feeling inspired and more aware of the opportunities within the growing conservation sector. We are extremely grateful to Jack for giving up his time to share his knowledge and inspire our students with such an informative and engaging presentation.
