Marylebone Cricket Club Match

South Dartmoor was proud to host our annual fixture against the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), founded in 1787 and based at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Known for creating and upholding the Laws of Cricket and promoting the game globally, the MCC brought together a team from across the country to face our side of students, staff and alumni.

After winning the toss, South Dartmoor elected MCC to bat first. The visitors posted a score of 259 runs, with wickets shared across our team. Standout bowling came from Gethin W and Albie B, who each took a wicket, and Olive M and Jack L, who helped to restrict the score. In reply, South Dartmoor reached 200, with Albie B top-scoring with a superb 63 runs and former student Joe F adding a rapid 59 runs from 52 balls.

Albie B was named MCC’s Player of the Match for his outstanding performance with the bat.

A huge thank you to Bovey Tracey Cricket Club and the incredible volunteers for their support in making the day a success, and to Mark Lockett for taking some fantastic photographs for us.
