  • A Level and AS Results Day

    Published 09/08/18

    Update 14-08-18

In regard to the current roadworks on Balland Lane SDCC/Atrium would like to confirm that Devon Highways have arranged to keep the access to the Sixth Form and Academy Campus open for results day on the 16th August.

Please be aware that there may be raised metalwork on the road so please drive cautiously.

    A Level and AS Level results;

A level results can be collected from Place House (Sixth Form Centre) on Thursday 16th August from 9.00 AM.

Mr Baldwin, Mr Whitelaw and Mr Fox will be in PH10 along with Teachers, Heads of Department and Senior staff to issue the results.

The Sixth form team will be available to discuss results, consider future options, offer congratulations and provide information about the UCAS Clearing process if necessary.

AS results will not be available until 12.00 to allow the A level results and UCAS process to be prioritised.

From 12.00 onwards  AS level results can be collected from Place House on Thursday 16th August

Mr Baldwin and Mr Whitelaw  will be in PH10 along with Teachers, Heads of Department and Senior staff to issue the results.

Mr Fox as Head of Year will be in PH9 to provide advice and guidance and with the Sixth form team will be available to discuss results, offer congratulations and provide information on enrolling into year 13 for the current year 12 students.

For students who may require additional time to discuss future options Mr Baldwin and Mr Fox will be available Thursday afternoon and on Friday 17th August - by appointment - please contact Penny Clark on the 16th in person or via email pclark@southdartmoor.devon.sch.uk

    Remarks

Should there be any enquiries about exam paper anomalies or requests for remarks please speak to Mr Baldwin and the necessary forms will be available from Place House - there is a charge by the Exam Boards for this, please ensure that you have a parent pay account or cheque to make the necessary payment.

If you cannot collect your results in person

As a result of the new GDPR Data rules,  any student who wishes to have their results collected by a third party (including Family) must provide confirmation of this in writing - electronic communication is not sufficient proof and results cannot be issued via email or any other form of electronic communication.  If you are unable to collect your results in person our advice is that you provide a stamped, self addressed envelope with a covering letter in advance and your results will be sent directly to you.

    Balland lane Roadworks

Please be aware that there are major road works on Balland Lane and access to South Dartmoor Community College may be restricted - we have been in discussion with Devon Highways and they have promised to minimise the disruption and make access as easy as possible on the results day - but unforeseen events might impact on these plans.

  • SIXTH FORM INDUCTION DAYS

    Published 26/06/18

At the Sixth Form, we are seeking to build upon the record accomplishments we have achieved during the past few years, when our results have exceeded those of other local providers, including local independent schools, leading to our ‘Good’ OFSTED 2018 rating. Our Sixth Forms (South Dartmoor and Atrium) have achieved student progress that places them in the top 5% nationally in 2016 and 2017.

We provide a varied and relevant curriculum offer, including A Level and Level 3 vocational courses. In addition, we have the ‘RISE’ programme for high performing students who are aiming for entry to Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities.

We offer numerous courses that are not available at all Post 16 establishments, such as our highly regarded A Level ‘Classics’ and the ‘Design Engineering and Construction’ Qualification. Additional enrichment opportunities such as educational trips abroad, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Ten Tors, the National Citizen Service programme, and the South Dartmoor Employability Award, also serve to encourage students to distinguish themselves.

Our students have the opportunity to be involved in a range of overseas trips such as school exchange links with Thailand, Football in Sweden, Subject trips to Berlin and Italy, and World Challenge (2017 in Malaysia.)

During their time at Sixth Form, your son or daughter will be given support and advice about progressing to higher education and we will assist with the process of applying through UCAS and Student Finance for funding during their university years, or to apply for apprenticeships and employment.

Our alumni have included students who have achieved Firsts at the University of Oxford, to presenting for BBC, or offered a full scholarship to play football in the USA.

The Induction Days will mirror the ‘typical’ Sixth Form day, students will be able to experience our excellent pastoral system and opt to try the various subjects in which they have an interest.
