Head Teacher's Message 2nd January 2021
You will, I am sure, have heard the latest news from the government regarding our return to school next week. In line with the announcement on Wednesday, NO students will be in school this coming week starting Tuesday 5th January (Monday 4th January is a training day for staff which will take place as planned), except for vulnerable students or those who are children of critical workers. Instead, all students should access remote learning, following their timetables from Tuesday.
At the time of writing, it is planned that during the week beginning 11th January, Year 11 and 13 students will return to face to face education and all other students will continue with online learning, again with the exception of those students who are vulnerable or those who are children of critical workers. As it currently stands, all students would then return on the 18th January. I will keep you updated with the plans, and any changes, as we move through the term.
If you are in need of an Educare place (provision for children of critical workers), please ensure you have filled in the short survey which has been sent to you, by tomorrow Sunday 5pm, to aid our planning.
As promised, I will write again on Monday 4th January with further details, including with information on the Lateral Flow Testing Programme, which you may also have read about. For clarity, this will not take place next week for any member of the school community and not before appropriate permissions have been sought.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and healthy 2021. Despite the disjointed start to the term, and the current challenges we face, I am optimistic about the year ahead for us and feel positive about being able to return to some sort of normality before too long. I am looking forward to meeting, and working with, many more of you as the situation allows.
Mrs J Veal
