Training School
Although it's pretty shocking to do so, website-wise, this area is declared 'under construction'.
We have recently installed a new and highly versatile online learning environment, which houses much of the material that used to be stored here. This page will soon be updated to indicate the rational and progress behind many of the exciting developments that are occuring as a result of South Dartmoor having a Training School Specialism. Some tasters:
- Cluster development work with Ivybridge and Coombshead Colleges - sharing the best of each others' CPD
- New accredited coaching award. Developed in-house we have utilised a professional coaching company to ensure our staff receive the very best training in this rapdily developing area. Staff engaged in coaching training are also being accredited through the TLA to level 2 standard, which attracts 60 Masters degree credits. The impact reports will appear on this page.
- Once again we have 'green lighted' our Training School Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Not many schools can lay claim to this.
- Our NQT programme has been recognised as leading edge within Devon Local Authority and we have been asked to contribute to the LA training in this area.
- Our in-house 'learning hub' programme continues to be recognised as excellent practice and schools are adopting similar models in quite a hurry when they hear about it!
- We have recently expanded on the monitoring of the impact of CPD. Not filling in an evaluation at the end of a course or session, but reflecting in some level of details months down the line on the impact the CPD has had on practice in the classroom. Has INSET really affected teaching and learning? We are now using the feedback from this much more rigorous and time-tested impact evaluation in the planning (and axing!) of future CPD for staff at South Dartmoor.
Please check back in a few months for a comprehensive review of Training School developments (honest!).
