Update from the Principal July 2016
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now at the end of a very busy and staff and students are looking forward to some well-earned holiday. We are looking forward to the written outcome from our Ofsted inspection, suffice to say that we were very proud of our student’s behaviour throughout the process. I would also like to thank all of the parents who took the time to write in such positive letters to the inspectors, we were very grateful for your comments.
With the end of term comes a number of goodbyes to teaching staff. This summer we say farewell to; Nicky Clapson who is off to become Head of Music at Ridgeway, Jackie Cooper who is opening her own business, Lucy McCance who has led Media Studies with such energy and Judith Morgan. Judith has been at South Dartmoor for 37 years and has taught three generations of some families. In her time here Judith has played many roles, Head of English, Head of Sharp Tor, and Assistant Principal being but a few. Judith will be missed, she is the font of all knowledge at the College and is loved by staff and students alike. Judith leaves behind her the new dining hall, named in her honour. The students have already rechristened the Judith Morgan Building as the ‘Judy’, well we wish our Judy a long and happy retirement!
We thank all of our colleagues for their contributions and wish them well for the future. I hope you and your families have an enjoyable summer and we look forward to working with you again in September.
