U15 Girls Cricket Are County Champions!
Not to be outdone by their Under 13 peers, our Under 15 Girls Cricket team also became County Champions this week.
Yet again we were the only school to have two sides playing in the County Finals round, and both performed exceptionally to advance from the group stage into the semi finals.
The A team won their group, with victories over Exmouth, Ivybridge and Bideford, and the B team came runners up in their group, beating St Peters and Sidmouth.
The semi-final draw then pitted the two teams against each other, in which the A team triumphed by 20 runs.
The third/fourth place play off saw Sidmouth gain revenge on the B team – meaning an extremely impressive 4th place finish, then the A team took on Bideford again in a rematch of the group game. This time, there was no revenge for the opposition as South Dartmoor reached and passed Bideford’s total of 79-6 with an over to spare – crowning them county champions and meaning they progress to the regional round next term.
Olivia Dobson was named player of the tournament for the A team, with Bethany Barnett and Lara Jay sharing the accolade for the B team.
Two teams in the top four in U15 girls cricket in the county and a second girl’s cricket county title in a fortnight – cricket continues to boom at SDCC!
