SDCC Opera Performance 2016 Announced
Re: South Dartmoor Opera Company – The Bartered Bride Performance
I am writing to warmly invite you to the latest fully-staged opera production by South Dartmoor Community College. Having performed The Marriage of Figaro, Turandot, Orfeo, Hansel and Gretel and Carmen to full audiences, we are now proud to present a classic comic opera, The Bartered Bride by Smetana. This brings to life the tale of two young people in love and all the obstacles that come their way through a custom of arranged marriages; full of wonderful folk dances, memorable melodies and the famous circus and bear sequences, alongside arguably one of the greatest soprano arias ever.
The student company have staged, choreographed and set this opera themselves and will be singing nearly all the opera – this is student work of the very highest standard and demand; we hope you will come and support this remarkable performance which will be staged for two nights only on:
Friday 22 April, 7pm, at Holne Village Hall.
Friday 29 April, 7pm, at St. Andrew’s Church Hall, Ashburton
As with previous operas, the ticket price will include a complimentary drink and a programme – Adults £3, Concessions £1, Students are still free – and are available from Main Reception and Mr. R. Wickenden. Tickets have sold out quickly for previous operas so please be advised to purchase yours early. Please write the name of your student on the reverse of any cheque and the title ‘The Bartered Bride’.
I look forward to welcoming you to our performances.
