School Equestrian Team October 2015
On the 27/9/15 1 team and 1 individual competed at the South West Schools One Day Event, held by Blundells School at Bicton Arena.
Alice Crocker competed in the 1m Open and finished on her dressage score of 26.9 with a double clear showjumping & cross country inside the time to win the class, being the only rider representing a state school to come inside the top 10.
The team of riders consisted of Abbie Hibbs, Georgie Nendick and Lucy Owen competing in the 80cm Novice class. Each rider jumped well and completed a strong clear round either cross country or showjumping, to finish 7th as a team.
On the weekend just gone (4/10/15) 2 teams and an individual competed at the NSEA Jumping With Style Qualifier.
The team competing in the Intermediate 90-95cm class consisted of Emily Hunter, Lucy Owen and Alice Crocker. All the girls jumped strong rounds around a technical course to finish 7th as a team with Alice jumping a clear round to be pipped by 0.5 points into 2nd individually out of 87 to qualify for the National Championships to be held at the end of half term.
Abbie Hibbs competed individually in the Novice 80-85cm, jumping well around another technical track and finishing with only 4 faults, a commendable achievement.
A second team of Charlotte Teague, Caitlin Wright, Ellie Fincham and Emma Stewart competed in the Novice 80-85cm, with 102 riders in the class. Again all 4 girls jumped very consistently, with Caitlin and Charlotte having clear rounds to finish 6th and 9th placed individuals respectively.
Also thanks to the whole team jumping really well they gained enough collective marks to finish 2nd as a team and also qualify for the National Championships in a couple of weeks time.
The five of us look forward to representing the school at the championships, and sporting our new cross country colours and saddle cloths when they arrive!
Many thanks on behalf of all of the school equestrian team.
