Applied Learning Pathway
The Applied Learning Pathway includes practical courses closely related to the world of work. They are all assessed through real activities and coursework, with very few examinations. Some of these courses such as hairdressing or childcare will be fulltime with a work placement element; however, our curriculum structure also allows students to select some applied learning courses that can run alongside academic qualifications. We have carefully selected our vocational courses to align with local employment sectors and the specialisms of the college including the performing arts and sports.
Students may want to take a Level 2 Applied course if they have not yet achieved 5 C grades at GCSE. Level 2 courses usually last for one year. Level 3 courses usually last for two years and have equivalence to traditional A Level courses. You will need advanced courses to progress to University or into careers at officer level.
If you are interested in this type of learning you may want to make an appointment to see the Coordinator of Applied and Vocational Learning and Deputy Head of Sixth Form: Mr Jared Baldwin (firstname.lastname@example.org).
