Comfortable passage into the next round with a 6-2 win. The game should have been over at half time but we were a little bit rusty and missed a host of chances. The 2nd half provided us with a little more composure and made the game safe with some excellent goals.

Y10 vs Callington
STAR MAN: Luke J Goal Keeper
South Dartmoor took the long trip down to Cornwall to face Callington in County Cup competition. This game was the first competitive game since last season so the boys were unsure of how they would perform on the day against potentially strong competition.
The game started very positively for South Dartmoor as they created early chances, but could not find the final ball to finish the moves off. The opposition in the first half did not offer any sort of danger in attack, which South Dartmoor took full advantage of by being quicker and stronger all over the pitch from defence to attack, but as we know this does not put the ball in the back of the net which Dartmoor struggled to do early on in the game.
South Dartmoor’s new formation enabled the likes of Cliff W, Jordan T, and Nathan W to push forward with pace and create a number of problems for Callington. The best chance of the half fell to Alex H who rose highest from a corner to head the ball over the bar. It was not just Alex’s attacking ability which shone through, but his domination at the back for Dartmoor which seems to be his new position and preferred position.
At the break South Dartmoor were asked to much of the same and not to panic, as chances would come thick and fast as the opposition showed little in the first half. South Dartmoor continued to create chances, but could not find the net, the game was heading for extra-time and ultimately the dreaded penalty shot out.
With 10 minutes left on the clock Callington started to gain some confidence from Dartmoor’s lack of finishing to thinking they could pinch the game, which nearly paid for the opposition as Luke J had to be at his best to tip over a curling free kick from just outside the box.
The final whistle went leaving 10 minutes of extra-time to play. The game continued like the previous 60 minutes with South Dartmoor creating half chances to win the game, but some good goal keeping and last ditch defending saving the opposition from defeat in extra-time.
After 10 minutes the game went to the dreaded penalties, which as we know is always a lottery. Luke J stepped up from goal to take the first, but unfortunately he sliced the ball wide putting the pressure on the next 4 takers. Nathan W, Alex H, Cliff W took the next three spot kicks which were successful. Luke J then faced Callington's 5 penalty and pulled off a brilliant save to right his wrongs from the early missed spot kick. The score was tied at 4-4, when the calm Chris H stepped and blasted the ball home to take the lead and put massive pressure on the opposition, as the game became sudden death.
This pressure finally got to the Callington forward, as Luke J saved his second spot kick of the game out to win a memorable game for Southdartmoor. The star player has to go to the shot stopper Luke J, who showed some expert skills between the posts to win the tie for Dartmoor.
Well done to all squad members, who really stepped up to the challenge in a difficult game, with massive pressures created in the penalty shoot out. There were a number of other stand out performances including Will C, Callum W and Nathan H, especially Callum who played in a new position and dominated throughout, well done.

U18 vs Plymstock
The girls played excellently and deserved to get more out of the game but were unfortunate to bow out. A great 2nd half display really showed the girls desire and having fought back from 2-0 down with goals from Molly M and Sarah S, SDCC then missed a penalty to take the lead, and this seemed to raise Plymstock's hopes and they then scored two late goals. A great effort girls.
