South Dartmoor's Enrichment Week 2009 was once again a major success with students in Y7 - 9 enjoying the fantastic activities that took them around College, the local area, across the country and overseas.  Scroll down to see links and photographs of the many and varied activities...

We spent a very action-packed week taking part in a wide range of speed-related activities, from indoor go-karting and riding mini motorbikes to laser-combat, quad biking and digger driving.

Mixed in with this was a visit to the home of the Haynes motor-vehicle manuals and their museum stocked full of exotic cars with exciting histories.  Read on...

Music Tour '09  to Prague

A wonderful, amazing, never to be forgotten tour, quite possibly our best ever!  Prague is truly inspirational, cultured, beautiful, buzzing and a perfect place to visit and tour.

Some seriously big fish were hauled from the depths of the sea during the Gone Fishin' Enrichment week Activity led by Mr Kensington...see them here

We had a great week at SDCC, with five days of football fun led by the Plymouth Argyle football coaches. 

The week consisted of football skills, small sided games and lots of competitions, this was all based on a world cup theme with Ireland, England and Brazil making up the tournament...read on  

This year for enrichment week a group of students completed their PADI Open Water dive training at Aquanauts, a Plymouth based dive centre.

Over the course of the week the students completed a gruelling schedule of classroom work, kit demonstrations, assembly of their diving equipment, as well as a series of pool dives. The Open Water course then culminated in two dives in the sea, just off the coast of Devon.

Although some of the students taking part found some aspects of the course difficult (and none were keen on the classroom work!) they have all learnt a range of skills and gained a world-recognised qualification that will allow them to dive anywhere around the globe.

As teachers it was great to see all the students working together and helping each other with the written work, as well as working together to make checks on their dive buddy before taking to the water.

Eight plucky students joined Mr Woodland, Mr Smith and Miss Pilling for one of the biggest challenges in Enrichment Week 2009 - could we walk 50 miles around Dartmoor carrying everything we would need on our backs? Read on...

The weather for the week certainly did not reflect that Enrichment Week was held in the summer. Nonetheless, students participating in Rootin’ Tootin’ Clay Target Shootin’ had beaming smiles all week as they spent time learning the art of clay target shooting. Read on...

Students of all golfing ability enjoyed their week at Hele Park Golf Centre. There were occasions where groups of student were playing on the golf course and the weather held.

At the end of the week prizes such a golf bag and clubs, golf balls and irons was given for best player, most improve, bets putting and chipping. See more photos...
